Updates to Security Acceptance Emails

We’re releasing an update to our security acceptance emails for common shares/units, preferred shares/units, and warrants.

Screenshot1.png

The new email includes a link that takes existing users to a login screen and new users to our signup flow.

Screen Shot 2019-01-31 at 2.22.09 PM.png

We’ve included clearer step-by-step instructions for accepting securities on Carta and setting up user accounts.

Additionally, while we plan to keep the unique code, we are making it less prominent to avoid confusion for users.

Carta now supports companies who have adopted the new accounting standard ASU 2018-07

Carta wants to help your company stay up to date with the new accounting guidance and make adoption easy. If your Company has elected to adopt ASU 2018-07, which treats non-employee awards as grant date awards, Carta’s expense reporting tool can help you.

If you have already generated expense reports on Carta you will need to contact your account representative or support to assist with a smooth transition. They will work with you directly to update the settings to ensure all expenses calculated prior to adoption remain unchanged.

Screen Shot 2019-01-11 at 2.24.17 PM.png

If you have not yet generated expense reports, you will have the option to enter an adoption date when setting up your expenses for the first time.

Screen Shot 2019-01-11 at 2.29.35 PM.png

Be sure to consult with your auditors or internal accounting team prior to adoption to ensure that Topic 606 is implemented as well to ensure compliances. Please feel free to direct any questions or feedback to 718@carta.com

Outgoing wire instructions for public company employees!

We’re happy to announce that employees of publicly traded companies can now add their wire instructions in account settings for both US and international bank accounts. This wire account will be used for outgoing transactions... In other words, to ensure you get your money.

Screen Shot 2019-01-14 at 1.40.30 PM.png

For international users, this means you will now be able to receive net proceeds (from sales, cashless exercises, etc) directly from Carta in your own local currencies!

Screen Shot 2019-01-14 at 1.48.10 PM.png

Don’t need to set up wires? Not to worry. ACH via Plaid and manual entry is still supported for US domestic users. Please feel free to direct any questions or feedback to publicmarkets@carta.com

Grant fund investment access on your investor's behalf

If you’re using Carta’s LP portal, you can now grant an investor’s colleague access to their fund investment directly.

You can find this feature by navigating to the ‘Partners’ page and clicking on the Manage users link for a specific partner.

ManageUsers.png

You can add one or more users at a time and adjust permissions to ensure they only access the content your investor prescribes.

UserPermission.png

The users you add will only see your specific fund investment and not your investor’s full portfolio.

RestrictedPortfolioAccess.png

The permissions you set restrict the type of content they can see within the fund investment. In the example below, the user can only see legal documents.

LegalDocsOnly.png

Note that Carta fund administrators handle these operations for their funds, so these customers won’t see the Manage users link in app.

We hope this new feature simplifies user access for your investors. We’d love to hear your thoughts, so don’t hesitate to reach out at investorservices@carta.com with any questions or comments.

You can now remove bank accounts on personal portfolios as well as company accounts. To do this in a personal portfolio, go to “Account” and “Settings” and click on “Payment information” from the left menu. Click the “Actions” button and “Remove.”

Search for comparable companies

Finding the right comparable companies for your ASC820 reports can be time-consuming, so we decided to enhance the Comparable companies page to make this process easier than ever. You can now find comparable companies using keywords, the subject company’s business description, and tickers.

We’ve also added more financial performance metrics right into the tool so that all of your comp research and selection can be done without leaving the app.

Richer detail for capital call notices

If you’re using Carta’s (non-escrow) capital call feature, you now have several new options to enhance the notices you send to investors.

When setting call amounts, you now have the ability to reflect late interest payments, prepaid contributions and outstanding balances for one or more investors on capital call notices. You also have the ability to turn off a notice, which will prevent the notice from sending to the selected investor.

NewOptions.png

Adding any of these new options for investors will update amounts on the final review page accordingly. Late interest and outstanding balance amounts will increase an investor’s total amount due and adding a prepaid contribution will decrease their total amount due.

ReviewPage.png

Notices with late interest added will include a late interest row and add to the total amount due.

LateInterestInNotice.png

Notices with outstanding balances added will include an outstanding balance row and add to the total amount due.

OutstandingBalanceInNotice.png

Notices with prepaid contributions added will include a prepaid contribution row and offset against the total amount due.

PrepaidContributionsInNotice.png

We hope these new options make it easier to run capital calls with your investors. We’d love to hear your thoughts, so don’t hesitate to reach out at investorservices@carta.com with any questions or comments.

Tag your portfolio companies on Carta

Investors can now tag and categorize portfolio companies on Carta!

Find the “Manage Tags” page under the “Account” drop-down in your navigation. Here you can edit and add categories and tags.

Screen Shot 2018-12-03 at 8.12.00 AM.png

You can apply tags on the “Manage company profiles” page, also under Accounts. There you can add tags in bulk or on an individual basis.

Screen Shot 2018-12-03 at 8.12.36 AM.png

Screen Shot 2018-12-03 at 12.01.32 PM.png

On the “Investments” and portfolio company pages, you can filter by these tags. We’re working on extending this filters functionality on more pages through-out your Carta experience.

We are excited about helping you organize your portfolio better, so don’t hesitate to send your feedback to investorservices@carta.com.
